Recently, my husband made these lovely tapas for me. We had them 1 hour before dinner. He served them with a good glass of Oude Geuze, from the brand : Mort Subite.
This is a Belgian famous beer. My husband likes Oude Geuze. This Mort Subite one is a bit more sweet than the other brands. The colour is amber, it tastes between sweet & sour. Its alcohol percentage is: 4.5 %. Oude Geuze, its taste goes wonderfully well with the Serrano ham.
Oude Geuze fom Mort Subite is a mix from old & young Lambic beers. It is not filtered.
Maybe you could find this special beer in a beer shop where they sell international beers.
For more info visit the website from Mort Subite in English :
Recipe: For 2 persons, each 2 tapas
Ingredients:
4 Kumato tomatoes, cleaned, stalks & bottom cut out, cut up into little pieces
4 thin slices of bread, sourdough tastes great!
1 fat clove of garlic, peeled, cur into 2
4 teaspoons of the best olive oil
4 slices of Serrano ham
Black pepper, grinned
Method:
1. Toast the bread slices.
2. Rub the toasts in with the garlic.
3. Place the cut up tomatoes on top of the rubbed toast & drizzle some of your best olive oil on top.
4. Lay a piece of Serrano ham over the top.
5. Grind some black pepper over the ham & serve immediately with a glass of Oude Geuze.

Yum yum yum, Sophie! Thanks for the beer info!!
Looks delicious as always, Sophie! It’s nice to be reminded that food pairs well with beer.
My husband loves to try new beers – I’ll show him this and perhaps we might find it here (fingers crossed). This taps looks marvelous; I’ve tasted Serrano ham on only a few occasions but I remember how delicious it is. From your description of the beer, it certainly sounds like a great pairing!
Hmmmm a fancier version of pan amb tomaquet!
What a yummy toast – I’m making it for lunch today (have to sub a different kind of ham), wish I had the Belgian beer – we love it!
I just love geuze beer and cannot find it up in my little section of the world. I bet that pairing was perfect. Looks very yummy and a great way to start a meal!
Sophie, I love Belgian beers, and I have to look for this!
miam, voilà une délicieuse tartine…
I will so have to look for this beer, dont think Ive ever seen it!! That toast looks outrageously delicious!
Oooh la la. Nice little appetizer. It’s Friday, so we all deserve a cold beer.
I love it when your husband cooks, because that means that you can rest a while Sophie! With all of your good cooking, you deserve some rest!
I love those tapas! Perfect lunch for me. I frequently make it, rubbing the warm toast with garlic and just topping with tomatoes and a basil leaf, but the Serrano ham is the perfect addition.
ooh, this looks liek it would go great with the beer! I lived in Belgium for a little bit, and I love good Belgian beer.
You really do have some very fine beers there in Belgium and this sounds like a fine way to enjoy one!
How lovely that your husband made them for you, you lucky thing! Did a great job too I might add!!!
That’s very sweet of your husband! They look perfect! I’m going to see if our local wine shop has this beer – I love trying new ones 🙂
What a great husband! The toasts sound really good. Of course, what could be bad about garlic, tomato and bread? Yummy!
Sophie, what a simple and tasty treat to have before supper. This is the kind of food I just love. I always say that the men make the best food lol. After saying that I better leave or I’ll get slapped lol.
My oh my, this looks scrummy. I have never seen this beer before, and I don’t suppose I will, this is Oklahoma after all. Maybe on my next visit to England.
Sounds like a great combination, Sophie! Belgian beer is rightfully famous, and I need to expand my experience with it. I’ll definitely look for Oude Geuze one of these days. And what a delicious looking photo! I’m sure the toast with tomatoes and ham tasted great!
Aww your husband is a true champion! I wish mine would make me something like this. I hope you don’t mind if I show him your page! 😉
I love this beer… A wonderful meal! Delicious!Cheers,Rosa
You’re killing me! That looks scrumptious! I come from an Alsatian beer-brewing family and it still pains me that beer is off limits due to my Celiac. Enjoy some of this for me. The Belgians make some of the finest brews in the world – as well as frites, chocolate…
Delicious! I bet the Belgian beer complimented this perfectlt.
wow, sophie–that husband of yours is a keeper! any man who knows how to properly combine flavors and actually does it is a winner in my book. 🙂
