This morning, I made my 3rd Vegan, Gluten-Free Green Smoothies! You can read about my 1st Vegan, Gf Green smoothies here & about my second V, GF Green Smoothies: here!! A few days ago, I was playing with my ingredients but the end result was not quite right, but Today it came out perfectly, I added to my ingredient list, 2 things extra, ginger & ice cubes,…Don’t you want to drink 2 smoothies, as a nice breakfast or a good snack, straight away?
Recently, I discovered a new Raw superfood powder called Organic Raw Barley Grass Powder! What is it, I hear you say, well,…Barley grass is one of the rare superfoods originating from Europe. Young leaves that sprout from barley seeds are harvested, dried and ground into powder in the process of lyophilisation.
Barley grass powder is a rich source of chlorophyll which importantly detoxifies the body.
It also has many vitamins and over 50 different minerals: 30 times more vitamin B1, 43 times more vitamin B6 than in a banana, and 11 times more calcium than in cow’s milk, 7 times more carotene and 5 times more iron than spinach, and 8 times more vitamin C than oranges. It also has 37 times more calcium than in cereals, 16 times more protein than in cow’s milk, 128 times more folic acid then in a tomato & 260 times more natural vitamin A ( betacarogene) as in leafy greens!
It also improves digestion, lowers bad cholesterol levels, treats anaemia, sooth arthritis problems & works as an alkalizer. So it so good for you & your health. It tastes a bit bitter & that is why I begin with 1 teaspoon per person, per smoothy. This way, you don’t taste it that much, I also added 1 tablespoon maca powder to my smoothy because I like the more malty flavour it gives & to hide the barley flavour a bit more! 😉
** Recipe: For 6 cups of green smoothies= 1500 ml
You need to drink 2 smoothies for a nice filling healthy breakfast! 🙂
Ingredients:
3 cups unsweetened almond milk
1 cup of ice cubes
2 teaspoons raw barley grass powder
2 juicy oranges, peeled & each cut into 2
1 tablespoon raw maca powder
1 tablespoons of black chia seeds
1 very large ripe banana, peeled & cut into 2
1 piece of 3 cm ginger, peeled & cut up
Method:
1. Take your Vitamix & add every ingredient in this order in it. Place fitted lid & the tamper in it. Blend on full power & on high-speed until fully mixed. This takes me about 15 to 30 seconds. Check if the smoothies are to your liking! You must taste the ginger & almond & a bit of the green barley grass. I like my smoothies this way, not too strong with the raw barley grass powder!! Pour into lovely smoothy glasses & enjoy 2 drinks straight away as a nice filling breakfast, not to mention: healthy, healthy, top! 😉 MMM,…!!!
